Middle school teachers educate students, typically in sixth through eighth grade. Middle school teachers help students build on the fundamentals taught in elementary school and prepare students for high school. They prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
Students interested in obtaining a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program would pursue the Associate in Arts (AA) or the Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (AATP) degrees. They provide a foundation for students interested in teaching language arts and social studies. The Associate in Science (AS) and Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP) degrees prepare students interested in teaching in science and mathematics.
