Criminal Justice Professional Training (Continuing Education)
Short Term
Sworn Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from tuition fees for occupational extension classes offered by the Criminal Justice Professional Training Program. Members of law enforcement agencies who do not have arrest authority will be required to pay tuition fees. Due to the nature of the information provided in these classes most are not open to persons not currently employed in the Criminal Justice field.
CJC-3600D Drones for First Responders
This course prepares participants to establish or enhance a unmanned aerial system (UAS) program and sit for the FAA Part 107 remote pilot exam. Topics discussed include; drone laws/regulations, establishing a drone team, standard operating procedures, airspace and sectional charts, public safety exceptions/best practices, and public safety case studies/analysis.

CJC-4004A Search & Rescue
This course teaches students how to incorporate and utilize Search And Rescue technology to search geographical locations. SARtopo is an internet based search and rescue mapping program that is used to effectively manage field units in a missing person emergency. Each student will need a laptop that is internet capable and the use of a mouse is incredibly beneficial. IPads and tablets are acceptable but not encouraged. Students will also be exposed to the use of SARtopo mobile app.

CJC-4042A NCJA Police Law Institute PLI
The NCJA Police Law Institute (PLI) is designed to provide the skills necessary to conduct enforcement activities associated with search warrants, warrantless searches, interviews, eyewitness identification, and nontestimonial identification orders. Course requirements, including content and textbooks, are authorized by the North Carolina Justice Academy (NCJA), and instructors must meet specific NCJA requirements. This course is designed for individuals assigned to the role of a precision marksman utilizing an optically assisted high-power rifle. To provide the information and skills necessary for a law enforcement officer assigned to the duties of sniper/counter sniper to effectively and efficiently fulfill those duties.

This course prefix should be used for courses that fit the nature of the above examples. Local titles may be used. Course hours should be reasonable based upon the nature of the local training, but may not exceed the maximum hours.
