The call was made at convocation.
"To succeed, we need everyone on board. Our goal is to empower our college community with a strong understanding of AI鈥攆rom operations to classrooms. By boosting AI readiness, we鈥檙e embracing the future of work. Let鈥檚 shape tomorrow鈥攖ogether."
This signaled the beginning of the work related to adopting AI here at 吃瓜头条. This initial step will support the strategic success outcome for the year 2025/2026 to 鈥淚mplement College-wide AI literacy initiative and identify top priorities for improving and innovating services.鈥Big Picture Issues
We have identified the big picture opportunities related to AI. These include:
- AI Literacy
- Productivity
- Use of AI in the Classroom
- Workforce readiness
The next steps will be critical in moving us toward a comprehensive strategy for AI implementation.
Our Approach
Recognizing that Gen AI is an ever-changing entity we approach this adoption with a collaborative and change mindset. Our approach begins with seeking information from our stakeholders utilizing this information seeking stage as an opportunity to facilitate conversations around AI. Phase 1 and two are essential for laying the ground work and building basic AI literacy around campus. This will provide the data needed to set priorities and begin the work of production and execution.

The Community of Practice is an opportunity for both Staff and Faculty to engage in conversations surrounding pertinent topics related to the use and understanding of AI at 吃瓜头条 - beginners welcomed and encouraged! Artificial Intelligence in Health: Exploring the Current State and Opportunities

Open Lab Workshops
Join our campus AI pioneers as they lead open labs to try out some of your AI skills. Presenters will highlight AI skills, and you will be able to try them out with guidance and support. Excellent opportunity for beginners! Bring your laptop or use one of the machines in the computer lab. There is no online component for these lab sessions.
Prompting with Purpose: A Beginner鈥檚 Guide

Examples will show how prompting strategies can be applied to both everyday situations and professional tasks. Participants will come away with practical approaches that make AI more effective, reliable, and useful as a tool for problem-solving and creativity.

From Prompts to Agents: Working Smarter with AI Tools & Agents

Have you found yourself asking, 鈥淗ow could I automate this task?鈥 If so, this workshop will introduce you to AI agents, virtual assistants that can help you streamline your tasks and boost your productivity and creativity! You will observe both free and paid AI tools that you can use to automate basic tasks and allow you to focus on higher-level work!

- Evaluate daily processes to determine what should be automated.
- Evaluate AI tools to determine the best tool for the action needed.
- Observe the creation of an AI agent and engage in the process in real time.
- Evaluate the pros and cons of using AI agents as it relates to ethical and privacy considerations.

Looking for hands-on, low-stakes practice with AI Technology? Gain comfort and confidence with using AI and join us in this cooperative, librarian-led exploratory workshop! Participants will be provided with a diverse set of example documents to use to become familiar with summarizing and transforming documents with AI in a safe and responsible manner. This practice session will include several of the most popular AI chatbots to give participants an idea of the different results and outcomes from the various AI platforms. Learn both the limitations and the possibilities of these tools in a library setting, powered by human-authored ideas and cooperative learning!
Learning Outcomes
- Be comfortable logging into and engaging with some of the most popular Artificial Intelligence chatbots.
- Practice creating and building upon specific prompts for AI
- Use workshop-provided documents to see the differences and variations in how AI Chatbots can summarize and transform data.
